Why you need a fire door inspection
Fire safety equipment is crucial to keeping a building safe from the threat of a fire. All fire protection equipment should be checked and maintained regularly to ensure they will work in an emergency. Fire doors are a main part of protecting a building and anyone inside from the dangers of a fire, as such should be checked frequently and thoroughly.
Fire doors make up part of a building fire strategy and passive fire protection plan, so are important for helping protect the occupants along escape routes. They can keep a fire confined to one area, while allowing for safe evacuation to take place. Any component failure such a door seals or even a hinge can prevent the fire door from being effective.
Article 17 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO/FSO) makes it a legal requirement to install fire doors correctly and have them adequately maintained and fit for purpose. With this in mind, the guidance is to carry out regular fire door inspections to ensure that they can help reduce the rate at which a fire can spread.
Here at Surefire we know that the safety of employees is paramount to a building, and will be able to create and carry out a scheduled plan for each set of fire doors we inspect. Every door will be carefully checked by our fully trained and vastly experienced engineers.
