Fire Extinguishers

Your first line of defence, fire extinguishers are required to comply with the Fire Safety Order and are strategically located according to your fire risk assessment.

They are crucial assets to prevent fire spreading at an early stage. Using them safely and effectively will help reduce damage and down time. As well as this, they can help keep a fire under control until further help arrives.

All fire extinguishers and fire blankets supplied by Surefire are manufactured in the UK, are BAFE approved, BSI kitemarked and hold a 3 year warranty, providing you keep up regular maintenance.

Our engineers will ensure that the fire equipment is fully commissioned on installation and that they are correctly placed for your peace of mind. This will provide the best chance to prevent fire spreading if one starts.

As each extinguisher is uniquely colour coded, they are easy to identify and use on the correct fire. The colour coding system works as follows:

Water: colour code red

These extinguishers are filled with ordinary tap water and are best used for fires involving common materials such as paper, wood, fabric, furnishings, etc. Water fire extinguishers are solid red in colour.

AFFF (Foam): colour code cream

Aqueous film forming foam fire extinguishers (AFFF) have excellent all-round capabilities and are ideal for use in a domestic environment. Foam fire extinguishers are red with a cream panel above the user instructions.

Powder: colour code blue

These are excellent all-round fire extinguishers to help prevent fire spreading. Powder fire extinguishers offer superb all-purpose fire protection and are red with a blue panel above the user instructions.

Carbon dioxide: colour code black

Only Carbon dioxide (CO2) fire extinguishers should be used for fires involving electrical equipment. CO2 fire extinguishers are red with a black panel above the user instructions. They also have a horn-shaped nozzle at the side or hose and horn on larger sizes.

Wet chemical: colour code yellow

Wet chemical fire extinguishers are designed specifically for use on deep fat cooking fires. These extinguishers are red with a yellow panel above the user instructions. .
